Life transitions such as moving or downsizing can be one of the most stressful events you’ll experience. I offer hands-on moving and downsizing services in the Raleigh, North Carolina area to help relieve your stress and save you time during the moving process.
Moving & Downsizing Services Offered
Decluttering – Downsizing – Staging – Unpacking – Combining Homes – Sorting Through a Lost Loved One’s Home
Preparing for a Move by Decluttering
A clutter-free home is easier to sell. You will have less to pack, which lowers moving costs. I will help you decide which items to discard, donate or sell prior to your move. I also offer donation-drop off (up to 1 carload) after each session.
Senior Downsizing to a Smaller Place
If you have lived in a home for decades and need to declutter as you prepare to move to a smaller place, I can lower stress for you and your adult children. The first visit starts with an in-home assessment to determine your downsizing goals and I then physically sort items by your side to help you decide which items to keep, give to a family member, donate or sell. I offer donation-drop off (up to 1 carload) after each session. If you relocate within the Raleigh area, I can also unpack your belongings in an organized fashion, so you can quickly and easily settle into your new place.
Selling a Home Faster by Staging
Staging is another step that can result in a quicker sale. I offer a room-by-room walk-through of your home to discuss the best ways to organize, decorate and place furniture to make your home market-ready.
Unpacking & Organizing in Your New Space
I will swiftly unpack and create logical homes for your belongings in a functional and organized manner. I offer suggestions for storage products and organizing solutions that will work well in your new home. You will be able to settle into your new home quickly, rapidly return to work, and begin life in your new space with a freshly organized clean slate.
Combining Homes for Newlyweds
If you are combining homes and don’t want to keep 2 of everything, I can help couples compromise while sorting through items to determine what to keep, give away, toss or sell as you create your home together.
Sorting Through the Home of a Deceased Family Member
If a loved one has left you with a house full of belongings to sort through, I can provide professional assistance in a calming manner to help you deal with this emotional task. I can help you determine what items to keep in memory of your loved one, and what items should be given away or sold. If you plan to sell, I can assist you with decluttering and staging the home for sale.
How my Moving & Downsizing Services Work:
It starts with a complimentary 30 minute consultation via phone or video chat to discuss your needs and your moving plans.
We then schedule in-person hands-on organizing sessions in 3 hour blocks of time.
The amount of time it takes to complete an moving or downsizing project depends on the size and scope as well as the speed at which you make decisions.
At the first in-person session, I walk through your home with you to discuss your goals. We devise a basic plan of action together, and then I begin hands-on decluttering, organizing or unpacking for the remainder of the scheduled session.
It is most productive if at least 1 home owner is available to work with me side by side, although some sorting and most unpacking can be done with minimal involvement by the homeowner, if requested. At least 1 homeowner must be present in the home for the entirety of the scheduled session.
I will usually work side-by-side with you to sort, declutter or unpack, and I help you to determine what to keep, donate, sell or discard. You are the final decision-maker. I provide non-judgmental guidance, support and encouragement during this process. I also provide you with many resources on ways to donate, sell or discard items.
It often takes multiple sessions to completely declutter, organize and prepare a home for sale, or to fully unpack and organize in a new home. Sessions are scheduled based on the timeline of your move. I offer session choices in blocks of time of 3 hours, 6 hours or 8 hours.
